| Note* | [Anderson,Richard.FTW] [Anderson.FTW] Edmund Anderson lived in Hamilton County, Illinois as a farmer throughout his life. He came to the county with his father John, from Union County Kentucky. His farm lands ajoined that of his father. The footings to his cabin were still in existence in 1974 although the cabin had been moved from it's original site. The original warrant deed for this land is in the hands of Richard W. Anderson, Laurel, Maryland. It was issued on behalf of the service of John Maulding, his uncle. Everett Anderson (a great grandson) explained that he had sat upon the porch of the old Warner Anderson home before the days of radio and had listened to the elder Anderson's tell their stories of the civil war days. On one field excursion he took me to the wooded edge of a farm field southwest of McLeansboro and showed me the old Edmund Anderson well. It was still there in 1974. I doubt that I could find it again. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Bible of Edmund Anderson The original Bible is in the Hamilton County, Illinois Historical Society Library, McLeansboro, Illinois. | Note* | [Anderson,Richard.FTW] [Anderson.FTW] Subj: Re: Anderson Family Gen. Date: 97-11-24 01:14:10 EST From: Rhhofersr To: PatAnder73 Pat, I am really glad to have found someone from my Anderson Family line. I thought that John Anderson in Hamilton County, IL. was Gabriel's father, but I just couldn't find the proof. The story of Gabriel goes like this. Preston White and Keziah Barnes were married in Hamilton county, IL. 17 March 1825. They had two daughters, Parole b.February 1829 and Leatha b. 1836. The next record of marriage is Preston White and Evaline Cummings, 04 September 1838. Did Preston and Keziah get a divorce? I don't know. Keziah Barnes White and Gabriel Anderson married 01 March 1841 in Jefferson County, MO. And one of the witness' was Mary Ann White Wideman, Preston Whites sister. Keziah had Parole with her and Leatha, the youngest daughter I suppose was left with Preston because there is record of her marriage and life in Hamilton County, IL. In the 1860 census in MO. Parole and two children, Phineas Ewing White 4 years old and Mary J. White 3 years old were living with Gabriel and Keziah. Then before Gabriel died in September 1864 two more children, John W. White b. 1861 and Anne Katherine b. 11 May 1864. Keziah died December 1866. The children were known as White, until after the death of her mother Keziah. Then the two living children, John W. and Anne Katherine names were changed to Anderson and they claimed Gabriel as their father. Anne Katherine is my greatgrandmother. This looks to me like Gabriel and Parole had children together even though he was married to her mother. If that is not the case who is the father? If it was not Gabriel, why didn't she leave their names White? Parole married her only husband Robert W. Gibson ca. 1866. Thanks for all the information, I have not had time to look at it closely, but I'm anxious to do so. I will send family group sheets by snail mail. Louise | |
